Support The Quilt

The AIDS Memorial Quilt is unlike any monument ever created. It began with a single panel of fabric, a single name, and that one stretch of cloth is now joined by tens of thousands of panels created one at a time to honor, mourn and remember loved ones lost to HIV/AIDS. This handmade memorial, a testament to entire lifetimes of love and joy, now forms one of the world’s most powerful weapons in the battle against HIV and AIDS.

The AIDS pandemic has touched people all over the nation, and throughout the world. That’s why it’s so important that we continue to fulfill The NAMES Project Foundation’s mission of remembrance, hope, healing and action, and why it’s important for us to continue our prevention, education and outreach work using The AIDS Memorial Quilt.

Each year The NAMES Project unfolds sections of The Quilt at thousands of places: in high school gymnasiums, community centers, places of worship, art galleries, museums, corporate headquarters, government offices, and on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Wherever it is displayed, The Quilt provides balm for the painful wounds of grief, pours oil into waters made turbulent by controversy, opens eyes that refuse to see and enlists every person who experiences it to play a role in stopping the pandemic. As you know, it is difficult to walk away from The Quilt unchanged.
